COMMON QUESTIONS
What if I do not yet have a handgun, or my handgun doesn’t pass the inspection? This is usually not a problem. If available, you may borrow one from us.
I’ve heard other instructors will not let a person take the course with a .22 caliber handgun. Is this true? There is no reason to prevent you from using a .22. We DO NOT recommend it, as you should be testing with a caliber that is better suited to personal defense but this does NOT automatically rule it out. Again, you MAY take the class with a .22 but we do NOT recommend it. The ideal situation is to test using the handgun you intend to carry.
What type of ammunition do I need to bring? Do I need to use hollowpoints? No, FMJ (full metal jacket) is fine, even uncoated lead (for a revolver) is OK. Remember not to use non-jacketed lead if you’re shooting a Glock.
